Allium Ursinum Broad Leaved Garlic, also known as Ramsom in its native Europe, or more generally referred to as Wild Garlic, is the original garlic variety used for cooking and provides an amazingly rich aroma and flavour that seems to have disappeared in many recent cultivars used for commercial garlic production. Whilst the broad leaves of Allium Ursinum Broad Leaved Garlic are highly prized by leading chefs for use in a range of salads, creamy soups, potatoes, egg dishes and many others including in dips and as a garnish, the real magic is in the strongly flavoured bulbs produced by this variety. Allium Ursinum Broad Leaved Garlic forms lilly-like clumps that are made up of broad flat leaves that provide a beautiful ornamental display in the garden, and are often grown under deciduous trees like spring bulbs, for the cheerful white flowers set amongst the lush broad leaves. As Allium Ursinum Broad Leaved Garlic is a bulbous variety, this can often be harvested sporadically (through thinning), with existing bulbs multiplying and producing an increasing harvest, month after month, often for several years, if your herb garden is in good order.
