Bromelia False Pineapple Bromeliad Seeds

Inc. GST + FREE Shipping

Bromelia False Pineapple Bromeliad is a brilliantly exotic brom from Central and South America. Whilst the "false pineapple brom" has traditionally been grown for its fleshy fruit produced by mature plants, in more recent times, this relatively rare species has been used in tropical garden landscapes to provide a touch of tropical flair.

Bromelia False Pineapple Bromeliad does well in pots, rockeries and a wide range of gardens, and like all succulents is very drought tolerant, making it a favourite for pots and garden beds. The stunningly exotic aloe-like rosettes make this variety a great addition to any garden as the bold texture provides great contrast, and can be used quite effectively in adding some colour and flare to almost any garden. The younger leaves take on a burnt orange colour, and gradually turn burgundy and eventually green, as the leaves mature, proving a colourful display of perennial colour.

Ananas macrodontes

Our plant is thriving in the open here at Karima Mulilo, Namibia. It has been exotically beautiful and has one very large sucker from ground level, and there are two large crowns growing OUT from each side just above the base of the pine fruit --- AND at least twenty tiny babies are clustered at the BASE of the CROWN. The mother pineapple is slowly losing its red colouring, and is visibly shrinking by the day.
Can we take the tiny babies and propagate them? Having checked all your images I DO NOT SEE ANY ANANAS macrodontes PINEAPPLE WITH TINY BABIES at the crown base.
