Yucca Hesperoyucca Whipplei is a hardy and very drought tolerant landscaping variety of flowering Yucca. This brilliant variety of Yucca (more correctly referred to by its genus Hesperoyucca), the Whipplei species is native to desert environments in California, and is particularly well suited to dry landscaping applications (for this reason, also makes a great long-lived bonsai specimen). This relatively quick growing variety is used in gardens to provide some Spanish/Mexican flair, contrast with existing garden shrubs and provide textures to soften harsh surrounds. This variety is also of architectural appeal as it does spectacularly well in pots beside/inside buildings, in foyer areas or out in the open near a pool or perhaps a Tuscan courtyard. The first 2-3 years of growth, the plant grows in a compact tuft, before forming a single fully-leafed stem, before commencing flowering when it reaches 3-5 years of age.
