CREEPING THYME Purple Rain x500 Seeds

First things first. Creeping Thyme is not just, creeping thyme. Creeping Thyme itself encompasses a collection of wild species of Thyme from the Thymus genus, a relatively dense prostrate (low-growing groundcover) with tiny pink or purple flowers that generally first emerge with the onset of Spring. Most Creeping Thyme varieties available (sold as) seeds are typically wild species, which generally produce a plant which at first is quite encouraging, however, before long, plants of the wild Creeping Thyme varieties generally get quite sparse (after the first Summer), become woody with limited regenerative tendencies and often much reduced flowering intensity. In contrast, the Creeping Thyme varieties selected by The Climbing Fig have been specifically selected as superior hybrid cultivars of the common species varieties (wild thyme), resulting in far more robust plants, superior canopy resilience and most importantly more intense and consistent flowering.

Creeping Thyme Purple Rain performs better during weather extremes and is a much more resilient garden performer due to the true-evergreen traits of this variety. This should be considered when comparing with inferior varieties. Once established Creeping Thyme Purple Rain is relatively tough wearing, and whilst some claim it to be a turf-replacement, we feel this is taking things a little far! It is however quite a robust plant which can be planted between pavers, or around a vegetable garden where it may be stepped on from time-to-time, however we do not suggest the MCG is about to be resurfaced with this or any other flowering herb, any time soon!

Creeping Thyme Purple Rain is a fast growing perennial groundcover. The fragrant foliage is edible and may be used in cooking, however this variety is most commonly grown as a colourful groundcover in cottage gardens, rockeries, many different modern garden settings as well as in pots. Provided Creeping Thyme Purple Rain is in an aspect where it receives at least moderate levels of direct sun, this variety will often flower much of the year.

Why we love this plant: Picture this. After a day in the office, you get home, step into the garden for a moment to reach for the mailbox. Whilst you impatiently sift through the mail, you are all of a sudden reminded you are at home sweet home now, thanks to the sweet thyme fragrance that has by now filled the air, thanks to stepping on this plant only a moment ago. Similarly, during or shortly after rain, or other disturbances, this beautiful thyme releases its much loved fragrance. Seeds of all Thymus varieties are quite small. For best results, consider use of our Plant Propagation Kit.

Looking forward to a carpet of purple

Seeds arrived in good time, in good condition with information envelope. Hoping that they will grow well to give a splash of purple in my newly seeded lawn area.

I think the write up for this product a fair one without fantastic claims on how this plant will grow. I'm hoping my thyme will grow faster than the weeds. Guess time will tell.

Thanks for my lovely seeds.

Creeping Thyme

Before even planting my Creeping Thyme, I must say how much I love your presentation with the brown envelopes So welcoming, and with all the information one needs to be aware of regarding soil, depth, width etc, to get the seeds into the ground and on there way. The reason I love to buy at The Climbing Fig is the quality of the seeds. If the packet says 10 seeds then that 's exactly how many have been coming up. Can't wait for my creeping thyme to start spreading, should look magnificent. A picture of purple. Robyn
